"Cheese heaven! 🧀 Staff are super friendly and really know their stuff. You can taste anything, and they’ll help you find exactly what you love. We came back after 5 years searching for a mystery cheese, and the cheesemonger went all in offering his stinkiest samples to help us figure it out. We ended up leaving with Florete (goat), Dill Havarti, Le Crèmeux, Chablis "Stinky", and Epoises also "stinky". Also picked up some elk, bison, and wagyu salami plus a jam. Perfect for a board. The only thing missing that I wanted was a wagyu or elk salami without pork or red wine base, but the selection overall is amazing Huge selection, great vibes, and easily one of my favorite spots in Carmel. If you love cheese, this place is a must-stop! 🧀💙"
"I don’t usually leave reviews, but we had the most incredible time at The Cheese Shop last night! Me and 4 friends came in (per the recommendation of 1 of the friends who is a local) and it was definitely a highlight of our big sur trip. we spent about 45 min with Gemma, and then the remaining 15 with her colleague, Rena, after Gemma had to take her 10. Gemma was so friendly and knowledgeable and excited to let us taste a ton of difference cheeses, and Rena was also wonderful, as well! We didn’t feel the least bit rushed, and didn’t even realize we’d been there an hour when we couldn’t keep eating and went to buy our favorite cheeses that we’d just tried. Will definitely be coming back here anytime we’re back in the area!!"
"Find Gemma (pronounced “hemma”)! She is SO knowledgeable and passionate about cheese. She will not steer you in the wrong direction. I usually only go for the stinkiest cheeses, and I’d long sworn off both goat and triple-crème bries. She proved me dead wrong. She also got me to buy a sweet cheese that I don’t usually care for! Brava, lady. Brava."
